Activities

Jack N. Darby Elementary offers a variety of activities throughout the school year and activities may vary from year to year.

For the 2007-2008 School Year, we are offering:

The Drama Club - Club members will also learn about performing, theater vocabulary, and scenery and prop design.   

In the Student Council, students develop attitudes of and practice in promoting good citizenship.
promote harmonious relationships throughout the entire school. Student Council helps improve school morale, assists in the management of the school, provides a forum for student expression, provides orderly direction of school activities, and promotes the general welfare of the school.

For Peer Mediators, students go through several weeks of training and an application process to become peer mediators. They must have permission from their parents and the recommendation of their teachers to participate. The students who are effective mediators have strong people skills, respect of peers, good verbal skills, good listening skills and a willingness to stay with the program while they attend Darby Elementary School . Becoming a peer mediator is a way to develop leadership potential and provide a service to the school community. Darby’s peer mediators contribute to our safe school climate by being positive role models.

In Sports Club, students learn about and participate in a variety of sports activities.

In Reading Club , students read and do activities to improve reading fluency and comprehension.
